Laboratory Equipment

The laboratory facilities of the Department of Clinical Hematology and Transfusiology are composed of individual laboratories of the clinical, transfusiological, and research departments.
 
Motto: By combining laboratory and clinical hematology, transfusion medicine and research laboratories, to provide patients with highly specialized diagnostic care in the field of hematological and hematooncological diseases. 
 

The Laboratory Complement of IHBT is a whole that was created by combining laboratories of the clinical, transfusiological and research departments. The main task of the Laboratory Complement of IHBT is to ensure the quality and availability of laboratory test results, provide consulting and training services and collaborate on research projects within IHBT.

Hematology as a medical field is in the new millennium a field with revolutionary discoveries in therapeutic and diagnostic care. A hallmark of our professional approach is an immediate response to new trends and published scientific knowledge. The Laboratory Complement of IHBT is guided by this approach in all areas of its activities. Our goal is to provide services of the best possible quality to ensure complete satisfaction of our doctors and patients. We strive for quality, comprehensiveness and availability of laboratory services for all patients.

The Laboratory Complement of IHBT has established a management system for requirements of the standard ČSN EN ISO 15189 Medical laboratories – Requirements for quality and competence since 2009 and ČSN EN ISO/IEC 17025 Conformity assessment – General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories since 2002. The application of standards is verified by the Czech Institute for Accreditation, o.p.s. Examination methods within the scope of accreditation are defined by the annexes of the Accreditation Certificate in the current version, these are available on the website of IHBT.

Scope of services of the Laboratory Complement of IHBT

The Laboratory Complement of IHBT performs highly specialized laboratory tests. The quality of laboratory test results is ensured by adequate staffing of the laboratory and also by the application of the latest knowledge in the implementation of laboratory tests. In accordance with the development of science and technology and the needs of clients, the scope of tests is continuously updated. Some laboratories operate as National Reference Laboratories; by preparing samples, they participate in external quality assessment within the Czech Republic. The head of the laboratory is always responsible for the level of services.

Within individual laboratories, year-round training of secondary school and university healthcare professionals is carried out as preparation for certification in the field of Clinical Hematology and Transfusion Service and Clinical Genetics; doctors are also preparing for laboratory work as part of certification in the field of Hematology and Transfusion Medicine. Furthermore, the training is focused on doctoral studies.

The services of the Laboratory Complement of IHBT, which include interpretation of results and advisory services, are designed to meet the needs of patients and clinical workers responsible for patient care. For clients, the total scope of offered laboratory tests and provided services is listed in the Laboratory Manual of each workplace.
