NRL for hemostasis disorders

The workplace is integrated into the Complement of Laboratories IHBT. It continuously defends an independent and impartial assessment of the professional competence of the Complement of Laboratories according to the standard ČSN EN ISO 15189, whose application is verified by the Czech Institute for Accreditation. The examination methods within the scope of accreditation are defined by the attachment of the Accreditation Certificate in the current version, which is available on the website IHBT.

The National Reference Laboratory (NRL) for hemostasis disorders was established in 1993 and builds on the highly specialized work of the Laboratory for Hemostasis Disorders. 

The scope of the laboratory is divided into:

Expert Activities

It performs consultative activities in the diagnosis of hemostasis disorders and laboratory diagnostics for the entire Czech Republic. It introduces new methods and procedures for examining hemostasis disorders, including molecular genetic causes of congenital hemostasis disorders. It cooperates with centers for thrombosis and hemostasis treatment, and helps with the introduction of new methods. It prepares lectures on new examination methods and on problems and errors in existing methods. Since 1993, it has managed the National Register of Patients with Congenital Coagulation Disorders. 

Quality Control Activities

Since 1996, it organizes annual inter-laboratory sample comparisons for quality control "Determination of Factor V Leiden mutation, prothrombin gene 20210A, PAI-14G/5G, 677T and 1298C in the MTHFR gene" and prepares control material for it. It has supervision and prepares EKK material for SEKK (SEKK Ltd., Pardubice) in specialized coagulation methods. It supervises SEKK EKK cycles in hemocoagulation and comments on the results. It cooperates with SUKL in quality control of medicinal products (e.g. FVIII, VWF, AT).

Cooperation with Foreign Organizations

It regularly participates in testing of international calibration materials for routine and highly specialized methods, which is organized by ISTH, NIBSC (National Institute for Biological Standards and Control) or UK NEQAS. It participates in international laboratory studies that monitor, for example, new anticoagulants, new types of hemophilia treatment or rare hemostasis disorders

Trust and high data security is one of the basic priorities within the activities of the Complement of Laboratories IHBT. The established procedures are carried out in accordance with the Law on Personal Data Processing 110/2019 Coll., and Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data and repealing Directive 95/46/EC.
