NRL for hemostasis disorders

The workplace is incorporated into the Complement of Laboratories at ÚHKT. It continuously defends an independent and impartial assessment of the professional competence of the Complement of Laboratories according to the standard ČSN EN ISO 15189, whose application is verified by the Czech Institute for Accreditation. The examination methods within the scope of accreditation are defined by the attachment to the Accreditation Certificate in the current version, which is available on the website ÚHKT.

The National Reference Laboratory (NRL) for hemostasis disorders was established in 1993 and builds upon the highly specialized work of the Laboratory for Hemostasis Disorders.

Expert Activities

It conducts consultative activities in the diagnosis of hemostasis disorders and laboratory diagnostics for the entire Czech Republic.  It introduces new methods and procedures for the examination of hemostasis disorders, including molecular genetic causes of congenital hemostasis disorders. It collaborates with thrombosis and hemostasis treatment centers and assists in the implementation of new methods. It prepares lectures on new examination methods and on problems and errors in existing methods. Since 1993, it manages the National Register of Patients with Congenital Coagulation Disorders. 

Quality Control Activities

Since 1996, it organizes annual interlaboratory comparison of samples for quality control "Determination of Factor V Leiden mutation, prothrombin gene 20210A, PAI-14G/5G, 677T and 1298C in MTHFR gene" and prepares control material for it. It provides supervision and prepares EQC material for SEKK (SEKK spol. s r.o., Pardubice) in specialized coagulation methods. It supervises SEKK EQC cycles in hemostasis coagulation and comments on the results. It cooperates with SUKL in quality control of medicinal products (e.g., FVIII, VWF, AT).

Cooperation with International Organizations

It regularly participates in testing of international calibration materials for routine and highly specialized methods, which are organized by ISTH, NIBSC (National Institute for Biological Standards and Control) or UK NEQAS. It collaborates on international laboratory studies that monitor, for example, new anticoagulants, new types of hemophilia treatment or rare hemostasis disorders

Trust and high data security is one of the basic priorities in the activities of the Complement of Laboratories at ÚHKT. The implemented procedures are conducted in accordance with the Act on the Processing of Personal Data 110/2019 Coll., and the Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council EU 2016/679, of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data and repealing Directive 95/46/ES.
