News in hematology and transfusion medicine

UHKT Doctoral Students Conference 2025
On Friday, March 28, 2025, the UHKT doctoral students conference was held. At the beginning, the director of the institute presented an award to MUDr. Adam Lázníček for the best work of a young researcher in 2024, which he received for the article Combination therapies with ponatinib and asciminib in a preclinical model of chronic myeloid leukemia blast crisis with compound mutations published in the journal Leukemia.
Sixteen contributions were presented at the conference, including four short presentations presenting theses of new doctoral projects, and twelve presentations by students of higher years, who showcased the results of their own scientific work.
The evaluation committee consisted of RNDr. Kristýna Gloc Pimková, Ph.D., RNDr. Kateřina Kuželová, Ph.D. and RNDr. Nikola Čuřík, Ph.D. The award for the best presentation was received by Mgr. Kristýna Šmilauerová for the contribution Efficacy of the combination of CAR and BiK effects on the AML treatment pathway (supervisor: doc. MUDr. Pavel Otáhal, Ph.D.).
Like last year, this year's conference was a gratifying and stimulating review of the activities of young teams from individual research laboratories and working groups. We are pleased to note the successes of our doctoral students presenting the results of their work at domestic and international conferences and publishing in prestigious scientific journals, including Q1.
HEMATOLOGY 2025
UHKT was organizationally involved in the preparation of the conference 25th Prague Hematology Days: HEMATOLOGY 2025, which took place 22 – 24 January 2025. This is annually a selection of presentations from the American Society of Hematology congress from the previous year combined with an overview of news from around the world.
