Intensive Care Unit

The intensive care unit (ICU) of the IHBT provides comprehensive care for patients with hematopoietic diseases whose condition requires intensive care methods including support of organ functions (e.g. artificial pulmonary ventilation, dialysis).

We care for patients in serious clinical condition caused by newly diagnosed hematological diseases or complications caused by treatment. We also hospitalize patients who are undergoing treatment requiring monitoring due to a high risk of complications or who are receiving the latest experimental therapies, not only in routine practice but also as part of clinical trials.

The department has a maximum capacity of 10 beds, and most rooms are single rooms. A recommended list of items for hospitalization in the ICU can be found here.

Location: 2nd floor of building B.

Visits are possible throughout the day, but preferably between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.
Respiratory protection and a disposable gown are required to enter the ward – we recommend bringing your own respirator. If necessary, access to the ward may be restricted, and visits may be prohibited during periods of respiratory infections. In individual cases, visiting hours may be extended after consultation with the physician.
 

PROVISION OF INFORMATION
We provide information about the condition of patients to their relatives not only in person, but also by telephone. It is always necessary for the patient to consent to the provision of information to the inquiring person – i.e. for that person to be listed in the patient's informed consent form. In the case of a telephone conversation, the identity of the caller will be verified by a password specified by the patient when signing the consent form. Telephone consultations are available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
