Intensive care unit

Intensive Care Unit (ICU) IHBT provides comprehensive care for patients with blood disorders whose condition requires intensive medicine methods including organ function support (e.g. artificial lung ventilation, dialysis).

The ICU ward hospitalizes both patients undergoing hematological treatment in IHBT who have experienced a deterioration in their overall condition due to complications (most often severe infections), as well as patients in a severe clinical condition caused by a hematological disorder not yet diagnosed. We therefore provide hematological, intensive care and diagnostic care. Patients who are receiving treatment requiring monitoring of the patient's condition due to high risk of complications or when administering the latest experimental therapies not only in routine practice but also within clinical trials are also hospitalized here.

Within the IHBT area, you will find us on the 2nd floor of Building B (left from the elevator). The ward has a maximum capacity of 10 beds and most rooms are single-bed. The recommended list of items for hospitalization in the ICU can be found here.

Visits are possible throughout the day, but preferably between 14:00 – 18:00.
To enter the ward, respiratory protection and disposable protective equipment are required – we recommend bringing your own respirator. If necessary, access to the ward is restricted and during periods of respiratory infections, visits may be prohibited. In individual cases, after consultation with the attending physician, visiting hours can be extended.

PROVISION OF INFORMATION
Information about patients' condition is provided to close persons not only in person, but also by telephone. It is always necessary that the patient himself agrees to the provision of information to the inquiring person – that is, that such person is listed in the patient's informed consent. In case of a telephone conversation, the identity of the inquirer will be verified using a password determined by the patient when signing the consent. Telephone consultations are available from 11 to 15 o'clock.
