Flow Cytometry Laboratory

The workplace is integrated into the Complement Laboratories IHBT. It continuously defends the independent and impartial assessment of the professional competence of the Complement Laboratories according to the standard ČSN EN ISO 15189, whose application is verified by the Czech Accreditation Institute. Examination methods within the scope of accreditation are defined by the Attachment to the Accreditation Certificate in the current version, which is available on the website IHBT.

The Flow Cytometry Laboratory is a laboratory with routine/diagnostic, research and educational activities. It is focused on the examination of immunophenotypic markers needed for the diagnosis and monitoring of hematologic malignancies (acute and chronic leukemias, lymphoproliferative and myeloproliferative disorders, myelodysplastic neoplasias, multiple myeloma). Further examinations are performed for the determination of paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria, congenital blood platelet disorders, or for the examination of corpuscular anemias.

The laboratory equipment of the workplace includes a BD FACSCanto II flow cytometer, CE-IVD (3 lasers/9 fluorescence), Omnicyt flow cytometer, CE-IVD (3 lasers/11 fluorescence), Omnicyt flow cytometer, CE-IVD (4 lasers/14 fluorescence) and BD FACSAria III flow cytometer/cell sorter (3 lasers/10 fluorescence).

Laboratory procedures are implemented in accordance with the recommendations of the European Leukemia Net (ELN), International Clinical Cytometry Society (ICCS), European Society of Clinical Cell Analysis (ESCCA) and validated in accordance with EU Directive 2017/746 for CE IVDR.

The laboratory participates in national (SEKK: IF, CD34+), international (UK NEQAS: AML-MRD, ALL-MRD, MM-MRD, CLL-MRD, PNH, CSF, phenotyping, diagnostics) cycles of external quality control and is the organizer of the Interlaboratory Comparison (ILC) program for the Czech and Slovak Republics and an international program of external quality control within the European Society for Clinical Cell Analysis (ESCCA). Furthermore, the laboratory participates in solving a number of institutional grant projects and provides postgraduate training for secondary and higher education healthcare professionals.
