Department of Molecular Microbiology

The workplace is incorporated into the Complement of laboratories IHBT. It continuously defends an independent and impartial assessment of the professional competence of the Complement of laboratories according to the standard ČSN EN ISO 15189, whose application is verified by the Czech Institute for Accreditation. The examination methods within the scope of accreditation are defined by the attachment to the Accreditation Certificate in the current version, which is available on the website IHBT.

The Department of Molecular Microbiology performs non-cultivating diagnostics of infectious diseases using molecular-biological methods. The spectrum of tested pathogens is adapted to the issues of patients with hematological malignancies and post-transplant immunosuppression. The department primarily serves the needs of IHBT, for external requests a requisition form can be used. 

Part of the department is the Laboratory for Blood Cultures, which specializes in examining blood for the presence of infectious agents, conducting examinations for all departments of the Clinical Section IHBT, for the Umbilical Cord Blood Bank and for the Cell Therapy Department. The examination uses an automated blood culture system. Positive samples are further examined in the Clinical Microbiology laboratory at VFN.

Employees are bound by confidentiality under the Act on health services, 372/2011 Coll.

Trust and high data security is one of the basic priorities in the activities of the Complement of laboratories IHBT. The established procedures are carried out in accordance with the Law on the Processing of Personal Data 110/2019 Coll., and the Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council of the EU 2016/679, of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data and repealing Directive 95/46/EC.
