Department of Immunomonitoring and Flow Cytometry

The Department of Immune Monitoring and Flow Cytometry represents a research and technology platform of the Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion (IHBT) in Prague.

Our Research

Our mission is to deepen knowledge regarding the interactions between the immune system and malignant cells in hematological diseases with the aim of supporting the development of new personalized immunotherapies that could improve the quality of life of our patients. We also focus on studying immune system regeneration after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) with the goal of characterizing the influence of individual leukocyte populations on this process. Last but not least, we collaborate with the Department of Gene Immunotherapy and the Department of Modern Immunotherapy on the development and monitoring of immunotherapeutic treatment approaches developed at IHBT.
To achieve the goals of our mission, we use multiomics approaches that allow us to perform comprehensive analysis of immunological parameters. The foundation of our technology is highly advanced flow cytometry, which we combine with proteomic, metabolomic, and genomic methods.

Technology

As a technology platform, we support researchers from our institution in implementing cytometric tests in their research. Our support includes user training that enables them to make maximum use of available equipment. We offer a theoretical introduction to cytometry followed by individual training on cytometers. We also support users in terms of data analysis, either through services or training in the most widely used analytical programs (FlowJo, FCSExpress). Data analysis as a service includes the development of customized gating strategies or unsupervised clustering. To ensure rapid implementation of cytometric tests, we offer a wide range of panels for deep immune profiling of humans or mice, as well as custom panel design. We actively seek new technologies that we try to adapt for the needs of our users and thereby support their research and new discoveries.

Collaboration

Knowledge sharing is at the heart of our department. As flow cytometry and immunology enthusiasts, we strive to make advanced flow cytometry accessible to the broader scientific community. We are therefore open to collaboration with other academic institutions as well as private companies, to which we offer access to our equipment and technologies.

We offer

  • expertise in flow cytometry and immunology
  • development of cytometric tests including custom panel design
  • cytometric services (sample measurement on state-of-the-art instruments)
  • data analysis (supervised and unsupervised methods)
  • setup and characterization of cytometers for launching your laboratory
