Inpatient ward
The inpatient department provides space for hospitalization of patients with blood-forming disorders for the purpose of diagnosing these conditions and especially their treatment. In cooperation with the complement of IHBT laboratories, we perform highly specialized examinations including the latest molecular genetic and cytogenetic methods. Treatment is carried out in accordance with current national and international treatment protocols using standard and highly innovative medicinal products.
Our patient spectrum consists mainly of:
- Patients with highly malignant hematological malignancies including acute myeloid leukemias (AML), acute lymphoblastic leukemias (ALL), blast phases of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and advanced stages of myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS)
- Patients with early and late complications after hematopoietic cell transplantation
- Patients with congenital or acquired blood coagulation disorders including treatment and observation of these patients after surgical or dental procedures
- Patients with aplastic anemia or bone marrow suppression from other causes, patients with severe forms of hemolytic anemias and patients with rare red blood cell diseases
Treatment of patients in the inpatient department is regularly consulted within working groups for individual hematological diagnoses, which are established within IHBT, such as the working group for acute myeloid leukemia or the working group for myelodysplastic syndrome. Members or leaders of these groups often participate personally in patient therapy.
International clinical and smaller academic studies are also regularly conducted in the inpatient department, which allows hospitalized patients access to the latest experimental medicinal products or therapeutic procedures.
The average length of hospitalization ranges between 24 to 26 days. Our rooms are single or double-bed and are equipped above standard including modern fully adjustable beds and large-format plasma televisions. Unlimited access to high-speed wifi connection is of course provided. The recommended list of items for hospitalization in the inpatient department can be found here.
