Movement activities

Comprehensive patient care on the Clinical Unit is supplemented by the care of experienced rehabilitation workers – physiotherapists.

Rehabilitation is an important part of the treatment of hemato-oncological patients, which improves quality of life and helps achieve the greatest possible independence.

It includes exercises aimed at improving movement, muscle strength, balance and respiratory functions, which leads to increased physical fitness.

1. Progressive Exercise

   - Start with expanding ranges of motion and stretching.

   - Use isometric exercises (static position holding, e.g. plank), which involves muscle contraction without changing muscle length and without joint movement. This exercise increases muscle strength and stability without the need to move heavy loads.

   - The next phase is concentric exercise (e.g. using dumbbells of appropriate weight).

2. Submaximal Aerobic Exercise

   - Physical activity where the intensity does not exceed 85% of your maximum heart rate, e.g. running or cycling. Perform the activity in a way that allows you to still talk.

3. Recreational Sports

   - Physical activity for fun and relaxation, focused on the joy of movement and personal satisfaction, not for competitive performance. This includes light hiking, cycling, swimming, dancing, yoga, etc.

Consult any possible decline in fitness with your attending physician or physiotherapist.
