Inpatient Department

The IHBT Inpatient Department performs diagnostics and treatment of patients with hematopoietic disorders; it provides specialized and superconsiliary examination, and focuses on highly specialized treatment procedures. They are in particular:

• Combined standard and high-dose chemotherapy to patients with acute leukemia and with advanced stages of myelodysplastic syndrome
• Treatment of complications in patients after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation
• Treatment of patients with congenital and acquired coagulation disorders
• Treatment of patients with aplastic anemia and severe forms of hemolytic anemia

The treatment of patients is based on the latest scientific knowledge and the department is involved in a number of clinical studies organized by the EORTC, the European LeukemiaNet and other entities.

The Inpatient Department takes part in the creation of the National Registry of MDS Patients where data are transferred from the database of patients treated in the UHBT, in the creation of the European Registry of MDS Patients in the framework of a project of the EHA-Leukemia-Net and in the activity of the IWG (International Working Group) for the IPSS revision project.
