Construction
Vision 2030
Between 2019 and 2022, the first stage of reconstruction of building A and the new construction of building D, a progressive medicine pavilion, took place. In 2023, the second stage of reconstruction of building A will begin, and after its completion at the beginning of 2025, the building will serve the transfusion department.
The commissioning of this building will free up spaces necessary for moving research laboratories from building C. After their relocation and after moving administrative offices from buildings C and E, it will be possible to proceed with the demolition of these buildings and the construction of a new building C in their place. Building C, after its completion in 2028, will serve the clinical department. In the new building C, a modern transplant unit, intensive care unit, hospital wards, clinical laboratories and clinical facilities will find their new location. The reconstruction of the northern courtyard of the ÚHKT will be closely related to the new building C, which after its completion will offer quality spaces for the stay of patients, visitors and employees.
Finally, the gradual reconstruction of the largest and oldest building in the ÚHKT area, the heritage-protected building B, will begin, where after completion, various departments will find new facilities, including departments for science and research, operations and investment department and economic department. The completion of building B reconstruction is planned for the end of 2030. Upon its completion, the activities of the Construction Department will be terminated, thus fulfilling its purpose.

Building A – First stage of reconstruction
The reconstruction of the heritage-protected building A, serving the Transfusion Department of ÚHKT, is divided into two successive stages. During the first stage, completed in 2022, the reconstruction of part of the first basement and first above-ground floor of the eastern wing of the building was carried out, including deepening of foundations and expansion of spaces in the 1st basement floor (including connection to the new extension of building D under the area entrance), extensive layout modifications throughout the entire section of the building and replacement of all technical equipment. The first stage of reconstruction also included the establishment of a new freezer room. The second stage of reconstruction, which will address the remaining part of the building, will begin in 2023 with the planned completion date by the end of 2024. The author of the architectural design of the reconstruction is Ing. arch. Václav Čermák. The designer was KANIA a.s., the construction was carried out by a consortium of Zlínstav a.s. and GEOSAN GROUP a.s., technical supervision was provided by Area Prague s.r.o.
Building B
In addition to routine minor construction modifications to the heritage-protected building B, the reconstruction of a cold storage room on the 3rd floor was carried out during 2022 (removal of the existing cold storage room installation and supply of a new one) and preparation of a more extensive construction project affecting the 1st floor of the eastern wing of the building, which involves the establishment of new transplant outpatient clinics and modification of spaces for biobanking laboratories. This project will be implemented and completed during 2023.
Building D
In mid-2022, the new building D was completed according to the architectural design by Ing. arch. Václav Čermák, which has been ongoing since 2019. The modern new building has two basement and three above-ground floors, with a flat walkable roof.
The part of the building extending from the 2nd basement floor to the 2nd above-ground floor occupies the space of the ÚHKT central warehouse, where material is stored in a modern automated storage system. In the above-ground part, there is also the operation of the institutional pharmacy, a gastro-operation currently offering breakfasts and lunches, a seminar room and offices for doctors and laboratory technicians of the Department of Cell Therapy. In the basement part, which by its extent reaches under the courtyard between buildings A, B and D, besides spaces with storage systems and part of the pharmacy operation, there is a cryogenic storage facility for storing samples, blood derivatives and other substances at very low temperatures and related liquid nitrogen tanks, clean room laboratories of the Department of Cell Therapy and central changing rooms for medical personnel of the clinical and transfusion departments and part of the pharmacy.

In May 2022, an artwork titled Triumph was installed on the main staircase of the building, created by David Nosek.
Outdoor spaces
Within the first stage of reconstruction of building A and the extension of building D, repairs were carried out on part of the front courtyard (between buildings A, B and D). In the back courtyard (between buildings B, C, E and F), the reconstruction of most of the internal area communication surface for pedestrians and motor vehicles was completed. The continuation of the reconstruction of communication surfaces is planned for spring 2023.
