Patients are attended by a team of experienced physicians and nurses, a clinical psychologist and a physiotherapist.

Comprehensive services available from laboratory complement the service and insure a multidisciplinary approach to diagnosis. Blood banking and pheresis services include all the modalities necessary for excellent care for hematologic disorders. Nurse specialists focusing on hematology/oncology patients are essential participants in the health care team.

A dedicated outpatient facility provides a convenient and comfortable location for chemotherapy and daily access for patients with acute problems.

For many years, the physicians of the Clinical Section have been participating in the postgraduate training and education of physicians specialising in Hematology and Blood Transfusion Medicine. This takes the form of internships at the institute’s inpatient department, as well as courses and specialist seminars within the framework of the Institute for Further Education of Physicians and Pharmacists (ILF). From September 2002 the institute members have also become involved in graduate education.

New results and findings are presented by our physicians at international congresses and symposia in the form of lectures and posters. These results are also published in specialist journals.

Department of haematology and transfusion medicine of the Postgraduate Medical Institute closely cooperates with our Institute. We co-organize training courses both for physicians and non-medical personal in specialization of haematology and blood transfusion and other medical and non-medical branches.
